Three of Swords

Three of Swords

The Three of Swords is often a card that holds a lot of fear for many when they pull it.  It’s one that can signal heartbreak, sorrow and pain and it’s often hard to see a positive way to take this in a reading.

This week it came up twice as a daily card for me, one day after the next, and inspired me to really spend some time diving into the lesson this card can offer me.

On the first day I was feeling very positive and focused and could see no grief on the horizon for me, so I connected more with a reversed/internal interpretation I have of this card, hurt and pain being inflicted by myself rather than others.

Like many, I feel my inner voice can be rather critical and negative, and I can at times fester on past hurts and how to move forward.  Sometimes I do have to stop myself, as I’d never speak to a loved one how I speak to myself, and I need to remind myself that I should speak to myself in a loving way.

I delved into this card by creating my Three of Swords R spread.  I wanted to understand the root of this negativity and how to turn it into forgiveness and optimism.

I found this spread gave me such wonderful insight and helped me come up with a positive plan of action for next time I feel this self-doubt creeping in.

The following day, after a really fabulous first meeting of the Woo Woo Wednesday group, I was so excited to see what card would come up for the day, and low and behold, Three of Swords has more to say.  So straight away I decided to create an upright spread for the card and work with that, so snuggled in bed with my dogs I start puling cards and asking questions to get to the root of hurt and how to move forward from it.

Feeling I’m in a pretty good place right now, I needed more insight as to what this hurt was and how to release it.  This spread was so on point!  A few cards appeared that have been in recent readings and in similar positions, reinforcing my need to act on the lesson.

I’ve come away from these 2 days of study with a new found love, respect and gratitude for this card, no longer will it bring any reason to fear it when it appears in readings, it brings the opportunity of growth through healing, and what more could I ask from it?

I’d love to know how you view the Three of Swords, and if you use either of the spreads I’ve created, I’d love to know how you got on with them, so please do share your thoughts and insights with me
